January EPNI Update: Community Survey, Meeting 2/24, We’re Hiring

project updates

  • Community Survey: Nexus Community Partners and EPNI are gathering responses for a public survey as a step toward figuring out what community ownership means for this project. It asks questions like, how do community members want to participate in decision making? How do community members want to share in the profits?

    • Do you live, work or play in East Phillips? You can learn more and take that survey here

    • We’ll be door knocking and distributing the flyer in person around East Phillips on Sunday, February 11th, from 12:30 - 3:30pm. We’d love your help! Email prholden@yahoo.com if you’re able to join us.

    • We’ll be closing the survey on February 15th, and bringing the findings back to the community for discussion

  • Community Meetings:

    • January 20th

      • Thank you to everyone who joined us on January 20th at the Little Earth Gym! We used the ‘world café’ method to talk about what community ownership of the East Phillips Urban Farm Project could look and feel like. EPNI volunteers facilitated small group conversations and visioning exercises about what shared benefits, decisions, and values resonate with East Phillips residents. Gratitude to everyone who brought food, flowers and ideas to share with each other.

      • Here are the notes from that meeting, gathered from the three discussion tables. This google document is set up so that people can comment with any afterthoughts or additions that didn't make it into the notes.

    • February 24th

      • On February 24th, we’re hosting another community meeting to continue the conversation around community ownership and decision. That will be during the afternoon at the Little Earth Gym (2501 Cedar Ave S, Minneapolis) Keep an eye out for more details soon!

  • EPNI is hiring! We will open up applications for the roles of community engagement manager and program manager by the end of February.
